Island Hopping Around Okinawa
Itinerary Summary
Day 1 – Depart from (Osaka, Fukuoka, or Tokyo)
From your departure city, take a domestic flight to Naha on the main island of Okinawa.
After check-in, explore Naha on your own. One stop you don’t want to miss is the Okinawa Peace Memorial Museum. The memorial is located on top of a hill in South Naha, where the Battle of Okinawa was fought and ended during WWII.
For lunch, stop at Makishi Food Market or join a cooking class and make your own Okinawan culinary dishes.
In the afternoon, hop onto the City-Bus Loop Line and visit the other main spots of the city such as the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. It is one of the biggest aquariums in the world that provides a rare exhibit of whale sharks and manta rays.
Night in Naha

Day 2 – Day trip to Zamami Island
Zamami is an enchanting small island just over 1-hour from Naha port by high-speed boat. You can splash around in shallow crystal-clear waters or join a humpback whale watching tour.

Day 3 – Transfer from Naha to Ishigaki Island
You’ll take an early morning flight to Ishigaki Airport and check-in at your selected hotel. For your first day on Ishigaki Island, take a leisurely stroll along a beach by the hotel and then explore the last remains of Okinawa’s original Ryukyu culture and architectural sites in Ishigaki.

Day 4 – Day trip to Taketomi Island
Due to its proximity from Ishigaki (10-min by High Speed Boat), Taketomi is a very popular destination where you can enjoy the original landscape of Okinawan “Ryukyu village” with white sandy roads, red tiles roofs and a row of stone walls with bougainvillea. We highly recommend a water buffalo carriage tour. While there’s nothing speedy about it, this peaceful ride will allow you to enjoy the landscape and natural beauty of Okinawa.
Night: On Ishigaki

Day 5 – Day trip to Iriomote
Iriomote is 90% covered by a dense, semi-tropical jungle. Because of its rich environment and wildlife, the island is now a National Park. Today’s day trip will include a cruise on the Urauchi River through the mangroves, a nature hike through the National Park to the Manyuodo waterfall and kayaking.

Day 6 – Ishigaki Island leisure day
Enjoy an extra free day at your resort in Ishigaki. We suggest you visit Yubu Island by the ever-popular water buffalo car. During the 15-min trip across the lagoon, you’ll usually be serenaded by the driver playing his sanshin (three-stringed guitar-like instrument). Once on the island, tour the tropical rainforest replete with over 40,000 palm trees, striking bougainvillea flowers and the butterfly garden.

Day 7 – Transfer back to Tokyo (or other cities)
Check-out from your accommodation and transfer to Ishigaki Airport by chartered car.
