Finding the Finest Japanese Garden Trails

Itinerary Summary

    Day 1 – Adachi Museum and Wonderful Japanese Garden

    9:00, you will start with the Adachi Museum, which has been ranked as No.1 garden in “2020 Japanese Garden Ranking”, for the 18th consecutive year. The garden was also rated a “Three-star” site by the Michelin Green Guide Japan. The gardens uncanny look like the gardens featured in traditional Japanese paintings .

    After the museum, you will head to lunch at Saginoyuso located next to the museum. Admire the garden while enjoying the local cuisine. After lunch, you will transfer to Yuushien garden, which is famous for its adorable peonies. About 250 different types of peonies bloom every year in this beautiful garden. Although spring is the best season for peonies, the garden is very attractive during any season and alway offers seasonal attractions.

    After a long day of exploration, you will check-in at a luxury  Ryokan (Japanese style accommodation) located on the shore of Lake Shinji.  The Calm and magnificent views of this Inn have been loved  by writers and cultural figures for more than 130 years.

    Day 2 – Historical Experience and Exploring Day

    After check-out, transfer to Matsue’s downtown. Matsue Castle is one of the 5 Castles designated as National Treasures in 2015. The elegance of the castle’s swooping roofs and decor is often compared to the wings of a Chidori (plover bird). It has led to the castle’s nickname, Chidori-jo (plover Castle). From the top of the castle, a panoramic view of Lake Shinji and the cityscape of Matsue is simply breathtaking. 

    After leaving Matsue castle, a small houseboat will take you to the river cruise through the Matsue river to the Castle for about 50 minutes. For lunch, enjoy a  local pork Shabu-shabu style lunch  before continuing to Izumo Grand Shrine. 

    After lunch, you will continue to Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.

    Izumo Grand Shrine is the oldest and most venerated shrines in Japan. The main hall is constructed with the Taisha-Zukuri style. Japan’s oldest form of shrine architecture, and has been designated as a National Treasure. Each year during the 10th month of the Lunar calendar, the gods from throughout Japan congregate here for their annual “conference” at Izumo Grand Shrine. The “Shimenawa” that hangs at Kagura-den Hall is one of the largest in Japan, weighing an impressive 5 tons.  

    Dress Up in a Kimono and let your guide tell you everything about the Creation of Japan and its myths here at Izumo Grand Shrine. 

    After the tour, you will head to your next destination.
